McCormack Sexual Abuse Victim Settles with Archdiocese of Chicago for $1.5 Million
CHICAGO—A man in his mid-twenties resolved his claim of alleged childhood sexual abuse by Father Daniel McCormack for $1.5 million. The settlement took place after a pre-trial was held by the Honorable Elizabeth Budzinski on October 29. The victim claimed that he was sexually assaulted as he would come to St. Agatha’s church as it was in the neighborhood.
The man claimed to have suppressed the memories of abuse during his childhood. The victim’s lawsuit was settled before a lawsuit was filed. The man claims that the abuse completely affected his life. According to the victim’s attorney, Eugene K. Hollander, “Father Dan McCormack left an incredible wake of damage because of his alleged predatory behavior.” Hollander said that his client looks forward to putting this behind them.
These settlements follow three settlements that Judge Budzinki pre-tried in February, 2019, which resulted in a combined $2.84 million settlement. Hollander said that he still has four other McCormack cases pending.
